Development Plans of the past have, in many cases, failed because of poorly articulated development goals focussed on stakeholder endorsed development priorities based on a shared vision. While many countries, development agencies, and communities are now appreciative of this shortcoming, they lack the capacity to address it. NIDA has developed the capability to facilitate multi-stakeholder participatory visioning and goal-setting processes culminating into implemental strategic plans in a range of NGO’s and public institutions in Uganda and in the region. These include SG 2000 Uganda; SG 2000 Malawi; Network of Ugandan Researchers and Research Users (NURRU; Makerere University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Makerere University faculty of Agriculture; Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industries and Fisheries (Uganda); Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom Government and the European Union.
NIDA capabilities in this area include:
- Strategic, tactical and operational planning
- Training and workshop facilitation in research planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Project management and design
